Live in concert at 88 Broadway in Urbana! Fluid Events and the Urbana Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival Guild present legendary blues artist Candy Foster with special guests 'The Sugar Prophets' Friday, January 29th, 2010. In addition, Fluid Events will be announcing the line-up for the 2010 Urbana Blues, Brews and BBQ Festival, "Next Generation Blues", as well as some other great surprises in store for this years festival coming June 25th.
For over 40 years Candy Foster has been performing classic Blues, R & B, Funk, and Soul throughout the Midwest. Foster, who as a young man traveled the country performing at Air Force bases, started out singing jazz because his mother was a jazz singer. But he moved to R & B because it gave him more of an opportunity to express himself through the music. Over the years, Candy has performed with such blues icons as Lonnie Brooks, Etta James, Big Daddy Kinsey, KoKo Taylor, Junior Wells, Gatemouth Brown, Little Milton, Eddie Shaw, Son Seals, Bobby Blue Bland, and Bobby Rush. His authentic rhythm and blues groove sound testifies why Candy is the hardest-working rhythm and blues entertainer between Ch
icago and St. Louis.
The Sugar Prophets combine a group of veteran local musicians A.J. "Apple Jack" Williams, Al Chapman, and Bob Weber, with veteran musician David "Lucky" Wiser, via Arkansas, and relative newcomer Josh Spence to create that sweet, pure sound of the blues. Armed with a set list that includes songs from Legendary Artists like B.B. King, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Eric Clapton, and Jimi Hendrix, combined with their own original material, they set out to spread their own sweet sounds of the blues. Come see why the 217.com proclaims, "The Sugar Prophets deliver a high energy performance that is sure to get you up out of your seat and on the dance floor!" Don't miss one of Champaign-Urbana's hottest new bands, The Sugar Prophets!
