Parkland College was established in 1966 to fill the need for affordable, vocational-technical and education in East Central Illinois. Champaign Community Unit School District # 4 partners with the community to guide students in gaining knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to excel in life. Urbana School District # 116, through active community engagement, strives to provide quality education by fostering high expectations in a nurturing environment.
SPLASH is the Urbana Middle School program that stands for “Students Playing Learning After School Hours”. Activities are led by UMS staff, Urbana Park District staff and community partners. University of Illinois tutors volunteer the Homework Lab, with funds provided by Urbana’s School District’s 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant. Programs include activities, clubs, classes, Homework Lab and Morning Jump Start. Last year, 325 students participated in Splash!
Welcome to Urbana’s friendly, old-fashioned, high-tech library! As one of the oldest public libraries in the state, the Urbana Free Library is free to all City residents, and honors cards from all Illinois public libraries. The Urbana Free Library has consistently been ranked in the top 1 or 2 percent of public libraries nationally, and in the top 1 percent of public libraries in Illinois!
The Champaign Public Library has built a new facility that is three times the size of the current one, bring plenty of comfortable chairs, a quiet reading room, a coffee shop, meeting rooms, more computers, and much more!
